Zeta Amicae of Plainfield
The Zeta Amicae of Plainfield, New Jersey, is an Auxiliary of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Eta Omicron Zeta Chapter. It was organized by the late Friend Marie Jeter and Friend Rev. Dr. Shirley B. Cathie in April 1975 and chartered February 27, 1976. The nine charter members of the Auxiliary include Marie Davis, Helen Chiles, Ella V. Taliaferro, Gloria Coggswell, Dolores Cropper, Martha Brown, Ruby Campbell, Maime Brown, Mae Parrish.
The primary function of the Amicae is to lend assistance to Zeta activities, promote good public relations among Zetas and other women in the community, always exemplifying finer womanhood. Some of their work in the community includes visiting the sick and shut-ins, fellowship at churches, distributing Thanksgiving and/or Christmas baskets to families in need, and awarding an annual scholarship to a qualified high school graduate.
